The Electricity Regulatory Authority (ERA) has announced the electricity end-user (retail) tariffs for the fourth quarter (October to December) of 2016, indicating a reduction in the tariff across all consumer categories.
As per the tariff schedule applicable for the period October to December 2016, Domestic consumers will pay UGX 623.6 per unit (from UGX 626.0 in the previous quarter), representing a 0.4% reduction. Commercial consumers will pay UGX 565.1 per unit (from UGX 566.9 in the third quarter), representing a 0.3% reduction. Medium industrial consumers will pay UGX 523.0 per unit (from UGX 524.7 in the previous quarter), representing a 0.3% reduction. Large industrial consumers will pay UGX 347.1 (from UGX 349.5 in the last quarter), representing a 0.7% reduction. The Street Lights category will be charged UGX 606.2 (from UGX 608.0 in quarter three), which represents a 0.3% tariff reduction.
The reduction in the tariffs is as a result of a reduction in the international fuel prices, a change in the generation mix and the change in the Dollar exchange rate. Follow links below for details
